This is a wonderful basic tool for teachers and parents to use! It does not seem equally suitable for the learners themselves to operate though for at least two reasons. First, this particular product does not have a "pause" function. (In fact, it does not even have an on-off switch which makes me wonder how quickly the big C-batteries will be consumed.) Second, the mechanism for changing the disks, simple as it is, requires strong fingers and a bit of coordination.
Personally, I find even the "small alarm" rather loud and would have preferred a softer alternative.
